Guaranteed investment fund

« Back to Glossary Index

An investment fund that guarantees at a future date at least the preservation of its capital and a fixed or variable profitability if the investment is maintained until the predetermined maturity by the fund. To try to ensure this commitment, it invests most of its assets in fixed income. In case of reimbursing its shares before maturity, its value may be lower than the guaranteed net asset value, and often a redemption commission of up to 5% on the total investment is charged.
